Brian Daboll, Carmen Bricillo, Wan’Dale Robinson, Cor’Dale Flott, Daniel Bellinger, and Austin Schlottmann are a pretty casual six-pack of former New York Giants now living that honky tonk life down in Nashville with the Titans after spending last year in North Jersey.
And they might be adding one more to the group sometime soon.
Earlier in the offseason, the G-Men released veteran linebacker Bobby Okereke. They not only freed up $9 million in cap space by doing so, but they also used the cap savings (and a little extra) to then upgrade the position to sign Tremaine Edmunds. Edmunds is younger, rangier, and should bounce back into Pro-Bowl form after an injury-filled 2025. It made a lot of sense... for the Giants.
As for Okereke, he hasn't landed his next gig yet, but that could be changing, with one team starting to make more sense than the rest. Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport believes the Titans could dip back into the former Giants well and shore up the middle of their defense with the former Big Blue captain:
"The 29-year-old would be a stabilizing force on a Titans defense that will feature a ton of new faces in 2026. And the Titans have the cash to easily absorb his contract without jeopardizing their long-term financial flexibility."
Titans could keep the Giants reunion going with Bobby Okereke
Okereke almost makes too much sense for the Titans. Yes, there’s the Daboll connection, but the Gus Bradley and Dave Borgonzi ties matter just as much.
Bradley was his defensive coordinator back in 2022 when he was with the Colts, and Borgonzi was there too as his linebackers coach for the first three years of his career from 2019 to 2021, so this wouldn't exactly be a new situation for him.
The Titans have an up-and-coming linebacker in 2024 fourth-round pick Cedric Gray. The former UNC standout just finished fourth in tackles last season with 164 (five spots ahead of Okereke), but he needs more help next to him because Cody Barton ain't it. Plus, they have over $63 million in cap space, so fitting him in would be effortless.
The Titans already look like a Giants reunion tour down in Nashville, and Okereke would actually fit right in with what they need as a green dot, high-IQ backer next to Gray. The two have the talent to tackle everything in sight.
At this point, they might as well clear some space on the dance floor and teach him the line dance.
