B/R doubts Giants have a prayer of rebounding next season, painting bleak future

Nobody is giving the G-Men love any to bounce back next season.

It’s hard to find any positives for the New York Giants in 2024. It has simply been one of the franchise’s most dreadful seasons. From benching and then cutting ties with your $160 million quarterback in Daniel Jones, to watching your two best players on both sides of the ball leave in free agency and have career years elsewhere, to potentially going winless at home and enduring a franchise-worst 10-game losing streak—it’s been horrendous, to say the least.

Not to mention, all of this is happening during Big Blue’s 100th season as an NFL franchise. Despite holding onto the small glimmer of hope that the Giants could land the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, it seems nobody is giving them a chance to rebound next season.

B/R does not see any prayers being answered for the G-Men in 2025

In an article for Bleacher Report, Alex Ballentine analyzed teams across the NFL most likely to rebound in 2025 after disappointing 2024 campaigns. Unfortunately, he’s giving the Giants no love when it comes to bouncing back next year.

Even with the likelihood of New York drafting a quarterback—such as Shedeur Sanders from Colorado or Cam Ward from Miami—Ballentine still doesn’t believe that will be enough to make the Giants competitive in 2025.

“The Giants don’t have an answer at quarterback and don’t have the environment in place for a rookie to succeed either way. They are essentially where the Patriots were this season. Even if they get the No. 1 pick and nail the selection, they still have a porous defense, a struggling offensive line, and not a lot of weapons outside of Malik Nabers,” Ballentine wrote.

Ballentine isn’t wrong about the many holes the Giants are facing, particularly on offense. While rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has had an outstanding season, surpassing Odell Beckham Jr.’s franchise record for most receptions in a single season, the team still lacks offensive talent to complement him.

The offensive line has once again been one of the league’s worst. An early-season foot injury to Pro Bowl tackle Andrew Thomas derailed the line, which has now given up 48 sacks on the year.

As for Big Blue’s defense, it has been equally dreadful. The unit has only managed three interceptions all season, and mounting injuries have left defensive coordinator Shane Bowman looking incompetent.

Sorry, Giants fans, but no new quarterback—or even the potential No. 1 overall pick—seems capable of fixing this team’s glaring issues in 2025.
