Burns evidently realizes exactly what his pass-rushing mate brings to the table. There's no denying that he's one of football's most dangerous edge players. However, without Lawrence, the ex-Carolina Panther doesn't finish second in the league in sacks (16.5) and earn his first career All-Pro nod in 2025.
Ensuring Lawrence sticks around isn't just crucial to the Giants' success moving forward. He's an integral part of the locker room whose leadership goes beyond the gridiron. Meeting his demands for a raise figure to keep the peace and other core members of the squad, like Burns, happy.
Not to mention, the Giants are ushering in a new regime led by head coach John Harbaugh. What kind of message does a stalemate with Lawrence send? This is the worst time to be at a crossroads with a foundational piece of the group.
