The New York Giants suffered what might be their most heartbreaking loss in recent memory, and that's truly saying something, especially in the Brian Daboll-Joe Schoen era. On Sunday, the Giants lost 33-32 to the Denver Broncos after leading by as much as 26-8 in the fourth quarter. The Giants gave up 33 points to Denver in the fourth quarter despite the defense dominating for the first three quarters.

Brian Burns was once again a star on the defensive side of the line of scrimmage, as he picked up two sacks on Broncos quarterback Bo Nix. He has been the beneficiary after the team added Abdul Carter with their first round pick alongside himself and Kayvon Thibodeaux. But Burns did leave at points late in the game with an apparent foot injury.

After the game, as he was speaking with reporters near his locker, Burns was spotted wearing a walking boot on his right foot. Burns stressed that he was "good" and that it was just precautionary. Yet, Giants fans didn't need to hear about their star pass rusher wearing a walking boot.

Brian Burns stresses he's 'good' despite wearing walking boot after Giants' brutal loss to Broncos

While Burns says he's good, you'd have to imagine he will be undergoing further testing once he hads back to East Rutherford to check on the potential severity. But if Burns is to miss tiime, this loss to the Broncos just got that much more costly.

Burns was emotional after the game as he was crying at his locker, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. Additionally, Burns was openly criticizing the Giants' play-calling on the final drive, including "dropping eight in coverage" on the first play that allowed the Broncos to gain 29 yards.

Burns leads the league in sacks this season with nine after the Denver game. After recording four total tackles, three tackles for loss, and one pass defended on Sunday, Burns now has 34 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and four passes defended on the year.

The Giants do have the pass rushing depth with Carter and Thibodeaux if he were to miss any time, but Burns is such a game-wrecker, that the team's chances of winning do take a significant hit. Now, we'll wait and see if Burns will be ready to go next Sunday when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
