When he’s not running into telephone poles or putting defenders through planet earth, New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo apparently moonlights as a professional wrestler. At least, that’s what it looked like after his appearance at WWE’s Monday Night Raw at Madison Square Garden.

Skatt's personality is perfectly tailored for wrestling. He's got that chaotic energy that could draw crowds by the masses — just ask Giants fans, who have immediately grown to love their Tasmanian Devil-like rookie.

There’s just one problem. Getting pushed around by professional wrestlers wouldn’t be getting half the attention if the 23-year-old wasn’t still rehabbing from a devastating season-ending open tibia fracture, ruptured deltoid ligament, and dislocated ankle he suffered against the Eagles in Week 8.

The public reaction has mostly been... outrage, which isn't shocking. But he's having fun, not doing anything too reckless besides getting into a little shoving match. It's not like it'll impact his playing status. He's already been ruled out for the season. But if people can get angry, they will. And Skattebo addressed the public via social media with the perfect response:

Round of applause to the 23-year-old with the perfect response to the pushback. Honestly, the notion that he shouldn't be allowed to attend — and be involved — in such an event is old-school thinking.

Yes, he's on the road to recovery, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a life outside of football. In fact, he always has, as he specified in his response post. And that system seems to have worked out pretty well for the 105th pick.

What likely exacerbated the situation was the smoke around some of Big Blue's other prominent rookies. Linebacker Abdul Carter is in a media fight of his own, allegedly falling asleep during team meetings. Meanwhile, quarterback sensation Jaxson Dart is in the concussion protocol after taking a big hit in NY's Week 10 game against the Chicago Bears. It's a timing thing and nothing more.

Before he went down, Skatt was enjoying a breakout rookie season with 410 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, with 207 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

Of course, Skattebo's long-term health is the most important thing. Fans and media outlets aren't the only ones who know that. He does, too. Let the pettiness go. He gave this team everything before the injury — he deserves a life outside the training room.
