New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo‘s rookie season was cut short after suffering a gruesome lower-body injury, and he has since transitioned into the content space to keep himself occupied. Skattebo may now be more present in fans’ algorithms than he was when he was on the field. However, his emergence as a social media star isn’t making everyone happy. From questions about tacos to a controversial WWE appearance, the running back has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism.

Just like his running style, though, Skattebo has kept his head down and continued to roll. That has led to another viral moment, which is one all Giants fans can appreciate. The rookie running back was streaming while playing Madden, and, of course, he was playing with New York. During the game, Skattebo and the Giants offense had a 4th and 1, so naturally, he called a run play to himself.

The video game version of Skattebo was one-on-one in the hole with a linebacker, and knocked back, making the fourth-down attempt unsuccessful. The real life Skattebo immediately erupted, yelling, “That’s unrealistic, chat!” After dropping an expletive, the running back said that’s never happened to him in real life.

The rookie is right; in his short NFL career, and his entire football career, one thing Skattebo has already shown is that he’ll run through anybody’s face. All-Pro linebackers, small defensive backs, his own linemen, doesn’t matter; the running back will drop his shoulders and pick up extra yards.

That’s how he became an instant fan favorite in just eight NFL games. The rookie rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns on 101 attempts, while also catching 24 passes for 207 yards and two additional touchdowns. Although his season ended early because of injury, Skattebo is already considered an important piece of the Giants' young offensive core, alongside Jaxson Dart and Malik Nabers.

The running back just has to get healthy and ready for next season, and that’s exactly what he’s doing. He’s just taking fans along for the ride as he embarks on different side quests.
