The New York Giants held their annual Town Hall event on Monday night at the Beacon Theater. Several players attended, including Jaxson Dart, Brian Burns, Cam Skattebo, Kayvon Thibodeaux, about a dozen others, oh, and members of this year’s rookie class, of course.
John Harbaugh and Joe Schoen also attended the event and provided some insight into what to expect from this team in 2026. But while there were several takeaways from the night, one moment stood out above the rest for Giants fans.
If you haven’t guessed it already, it was Skattebo providing a highly anticipated update about his health status, how recovery has been going, and whether he’d be ready for the G-Men’s Week 1 primetime matchup at home against the Dallas Cowboys:
“Obviously, there’s ups and downs in the injury process and coming back and rehabbing, but the mental battle has been the hardest part: making sure that I trust it fully. I’m a little ways out. Not too far, but I’ll be ready to go. Week 1, I’ll be ready to go,” Skattebo said.
Cam Skattebo confirmes he'll be ready to go by Week 1
Giants fans were hyped to hear that Skatt is recovering well and feeling great. He quickly became a fan favorite in New York during his rookie season, only to go down with a suffering a season-ending ankle injury in Week 8 against the Eagles. That injury had Big Blue fans worried about his status heading into 2026.
Skatt looked great and seemed to be walking around just fine at the event, which is a relief for both the G-Men and the fan base, as the 24-year-old is in line for a big second season in the NFL. Skattebo will also have even more run-blocking help up front this year with the additions of Francis Mauigoa and Patrick Ricard.
Last year, Skatt recorded 617 all-purpose yards and seven total touchdowns. However, a full healthy season in Year 2 should result in over 1,000 all-purpose yards and may even double the touchdown total he had during his rookie campaign.
As long as Skatt is rested and ready to go by Week 1, Giants fans should feel pretty good about his return. And as for the rest of the league, they better watch out because he’s coming into 2026 hungry for more yards and touchdowns.
