It doesn’t get much worse than this.
Cam Skattebo’s electric rookie season has likely come to an end before it ever truly took off. The New York Giants are cursed — or at least that’s how it feels — after watching one of the most gruesome leg injuries in recent memory unfold right in front of everyone.

The rookie running back had already made his presence felt in the first half. He was the lone score with his 18-yard touchdown reception from rookie quarterback sensation Jaxson Dart. It's just terrible that things were starting to click. And then, in an instant, everything changed.
Midway through the second quarter, Skattebo’s leg bent in a way it’s not supposed to. The cart came out, and his teammates left the sideline to surround him. The broadcast quickly turned away. And just like that, the Giants lost one of their most exciting playmakers of 2025.
Cam Skattebo’s season likely over after gruesome leg injury
Skatt's brutal injury comes just weeks after the team lost Malik Nabers for the season with an ACL tear. Terrible news all around. It's a gut-wrenching outcome for a player who quickly carved out a key role in New York’s offense. The 23-year-old was one of the most exciting players this organization has seen in quite some time.
Before the injury, Skattebo was enjoying an incredibly impressive rookie season. He entered the game with 398 yards rushing and five touchdowns, along with 189 receiving yards and a touchdown. There's just no other way around it, this is a total nightmare scenario for Big Blue.
With Skattebo now sidelined, expect a heavy dose of Tyrone Tracy Jr. moving forward. The second-year back out of Purdue will get his chance to prove he can carry the load like he did last season. But there’s no sugarcoating it — this is a massive blow for everyone involved.
The 2025 fourth-round pick should hopefully return healthy and motivated in 2026. All eyes will be on how general manager Joe Schoen fills the human-sized fire hydrant's void on offense. But for right now, it's time to regroup, reload, and hope this season doesn’t spiral any further.
