The New York Giants are moving through training camp with pads on and looking to get after it. As the physicality increases, they’ve now reached the point where injuries tend to rear their ugly heads. The G-Men are not immune. Malik Nabers had an injury scare earlier, and Bryce Ford-Wheaton has already torn his Achilles and is out for the year. Injuries are part of the game.
A pretty troubling moment unfolded during Friday’s practice when running back Cam Skattebo suffered an injury and left early. Skatt was seen exiting with the training staff and didn’t return.

What made it worse was that fans and media could clearly see him walking off looking pretty upset. It’s an absolute gut punch for a rookie who’s been nothing short of electric so far. But that’s the unfortunate side of the NFL business.

Cam Skattebo suffers apparent injury during Giants training camp
His undisclosed injury will only raise more questions as to what's actually going on with the 23-year-old. He had been sidelined the previous two practices for (you guessed it) undisclosed reasons, so the energy is starting to reach heebie-jeebies levels.
Skattebo also missed most of spring with an unknown issue, so it’s unclear if that’s connected to the sessions he’s sat out this summer or what sent him off the field on Friday. With the preseason opener in Buffalo right around the corner, the timing for any setback couldn’t be worse, especially for a rookie with intentions to move up the depth chart.
Skatt is coming off an impressive final season at Arizona State, where he ran for 1,711 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns while adding 45 catches for 605 receiving yards. It's no surprise Joe Schoen wanted his services.
It was relatively surprising that the fifth-place Heisman finisher lasted all the way till the fourth round, but the league's pain is the Giants' gain.
And now Skattebo's pain is Big Blue Nation's concern.
Nobody needs this right now — not the Giants, Skatt, the fans... no one. Instead of putting pressure on Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary, he’s stuck waiting on an update that might stall all of it. Until then, it's waiting on pins and needles.
