Dexter Lawrence just said what every Giants fan felt after Week 7 meltdown

We're nearing the point of no return.

They say money can't buy happiness, but the New York Giants are hoping $90 million is enough to keep Dexter Lawrence smiling through another miserable season. They can’t afford to lose one of their best players to frustration, but that’s exactly what happens when losing becomes the norm.

Seriously, how is anyone in this organization supposed to be happy when the same nonsense shows up every week? Blowing a 26–8 lead with under six minutes remaining against the Denver Broncos is criminal. Giving up 33 points in the fourth to lose 33-32 is even worse. It’s not sitting right with the fans, and it’s clearly not sitting right with the players.

One of those players was Lawrence, whose three-word postgame quote was about as defeating as it was deafening:

Talk about saying the loud part out loud. It’s clear the players are at a loss for words, all but expecting absolutely nothing to change. But if Big Blue wants any shot at turning this around this season, it starts now — with some accountability and action.

Giants’ locker room frustration hits new low after Broncos disaster

There’s a clear disconnect between the players and the coaching staff. That much was obvious Sunday after the game. Lawrence was visibly defeated standing at his locker, but not everyone was subtle about their disappointment.

Star pass rusher Brian Burns was visibly furious with the way the game ended. His expletive-laden tirade back to the locker room was enough to surmise his unhappiness with the coaching staff’s late-game decisions — mainly with defensive coordinator Shane Bowen.

That frustration isn’t staying in-house anymore. Fans started pressing The Athletic’s Dan Duggan for insight on Bowen’s job security, and his response didn’t exactly sound like someone defending the status quo:

"The Giants’ problems run a lot deeper than Bowen, but if he’s lost the players’ confidence then I can see a change. I don’t know if it’s reached the point of no return with players, but there have been signs pointing in that direction."
Dan Duggan

I mean, look no further than the two best defensive players all but throwing Bowen under the bus. Their postgame reactions and comments sound like guys who have had it up to here with… whatever this is.

Lawrence’s indictment of his defensive coordinator didn’t stop at a dejected three words. When asked what changed for the G-Men in the fourth quarter, he responded with a subtly pointed finger, saying:

Well, that sounds like someone who's all but given up on this regime.

The fact that New York’s top players are losing faith in the staff should tell general manager Joe Schoen everything he needs to hear to do something about it. Maybe you don’t fire Bowen — maybe head coach Brian Daboll strips him of defensive play-calling duties and promotes defensive line coach Andre Patterson.

We're not talking about reinventing the wheel here... just do something.

If the front office and coaching staff lose the locker room, the season is done. And that’s an absolute shame because rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart could be horrifically affected by that. And if he’s the future of this thing, then they should be doing everything they can to right the ship as soon as possible.

Lawrence just joined Burns in getting the ball rolling. Hopefully something gets done this time.
