When it rains, it pours — and being a New York Giants fan lately has felt like a monsoon. Just when it seemed like we could move on from Week 7’s all-time collapse, a trade rumor hit the timeline that pulled us right back into the chaos.

Rookie quarterback sensation Jaxson Dart has been the lone bright spot in another iffy season. Since taking over in Week 4, the 25th-overall pick has injected real hope into a franchise that hasn’t had much to celebrate. He’s been electric, poised, and flat-out fun. But that optimism could take a hit if a certain nightmare scenario comes to life.

When the Cowboys traded away Micah Parsons, Big Blue Nation rightfully rejoiced. No more facing a top-three pass rusher twice a year. But then ESPN's Trey Wingo took to social media to rain on the 22-year-old's — and every Giants fan's — parade by reporting that Dallas is interested in trading for Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby.

Jaxson Dart stands to lose big if Maxx Crosby lands in NFC East

If you thought Parsons was a problem... wait until you get a load of Crosby. The four-time Pro Bowler is a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks, combining a nonstop motor with the kind of violent technique that shows up on tape every single snap. He plays through the whistle, dominates double teams, and never takes a play off.

At 28 years old, he’d instantly transform a Dallas defense still trying to recover from trading away its best player. Crosby’s resume is stacked: 63.5 career sacks, 115 tackles for loss, and 153 quarterback hits. Injuries have slowed him down a bit, but in his last full season in 2023, he racked up 14.5 sacks, a league-best 23 TFLs, and 31 QB hits — good enough for a fourth-place finish in DPOY voting.

That’s not exactly the kind of player you want entering the division just as a rookie quarterback is finding his footing.

Dart’s already led the G-Men to a pair of gritty wins — and nearly a third — over playoff-caliber teams. He’s flashed poise, mobility, and toughness well beyond his age. But he’s also shown a bit of the rookie habit that’s hard to ignore: holding onto the ball too long and trying to play hero when nothing’s there. A guy like Crosby eats that up.

Whether or not the Cowboys can actually swing this deal remains to be seen, but Jones has the ammunition from the Parsons trade. If the Raiders are willing, he’s aggressive enough to make it happen. And if he does, Dart’s worst nightmare becomes a twice-a-year reality.
