Giants' destination to dump a veteran QB just became painfully obvious

As the New York Giants open training camp, one position is going to be under the spotlight far more than any other. Of course, it's the quarterback. The Giants currently carry four quarterbacks into camp, but not all four of them are going to earn a roster spot.

Recent news out of Tennessee also just gave the Giants even more reason to assess their quarterback room early and often, as Will Levis is undergoing shoulder surgery and will be out for the entire 2025 season. That leaves Brandon Allen as the Titans' backup behind rookie Cam Ward.

Back to the Giants, who have veterans Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito along with rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart.

Did the Titans just become an automatic phone call from Joe Schoen?

The Giants could unload a quarterback earlier than expected and make training camp smoother

At this point, one would have to guess that DeVito is the odd man out if we're going off of sheer talent and potential. But, what if the Titans were to listen to a trade offer centered around someone like Jameis?

Winston would be an excellent backup quarterback in Tennessee, but he'd also be a solid mentor for Ward. As quirky and goofy as he is, Winston is beloved as a teammate and offers a positive locker room presence.

This would allow the Giants to not have to worry about cutting ties with DeVito, altogether, and either retain him as the third quarterback or stash him on the practice squad. Between Wilson and Dart, this team has a couple of starting options. Winston and DeVito seem like throw-ins at this point, but each holds value for a different reason.

DeVito is a fan favorite, in a way, while Winston is definitely a capable spot starter. The former may not fetch anything in a trade with Tennessee, but the Giants might be able to snag a Day 3 pick for Winston, should they choose to pursue something.

If any team has quarterbacks to spare (if you could call it that) it's the Giants. Now, will Schoen try to take advantage of the Titans' misfortune?
