It's been a tough road, the past few weeks, amid New York Giants fans trying to stay excited and hopeful for the future with Jaxson Dart leading the charge. Despite winning his first start against the Los Angeles Chargers, Dart and the Giants dropped one in Week 5 to the lowly New Orleans Saints.
This week, it doesn't get any easier for the Giants who take on their bitter division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. But, for a moment earlier this week, it looked like it just might get a tad easier.
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was held out of practice with a knee injury to start the week, for Phiadelphia. For a moment, it looked like the Giants could be catching a break and not having to deal with the wrath of Saquon.
Saquon Barkley looks ready to suit up against the Giants on Thursday Night Football
After being officially limited on the Tuesday practice report for Philadelphia, Barkely was back at practice for the Eagles on Wednesday. He was cleared to play and should be good to go.
Of course, it's quite a storyline because of Barkley's history in New York. We all know that story. But, this would have been even more significant because of the fact that the Eagles are coming off their first loss of the season.
Philly is coming into this game with something to prove. They aren't happy with a loss. No one is. But, this loss was different. After all, we hadn't seen them lose in over 365 days, so of course this feeling is one they aren't accustomed to.
The bitter taste will be abundantly flowing in the mouths of Eagles players, and you better believe Barkley is taking this one even more personally after a loss.
So far this season, Barkley is averaging a measly 3.2 yards per carry through five games. It wouldn't be hyperbole to think that this is his get-right game.
It's under the lights and in front of millions of viewers nationwide. It's against his former team; the team that decided they didn't want to pay him. It could get ugly, but this is just another challenge for Brian Daboll and company to try and overcome.
