Giants will be the main character of the 2025 NFL Draft according to league insider

Everyone loves a little main character energy.

I don't want to put this evil on you, but I have bad news: this year's NFL Draft belongs to the Giants. The *New York Giants* front office is going to have a major impact on how the entire league's draft shakes out this weekend, which would feel like an awfully powerful place to be for, like, 95% of NFL fans.

But this is the Giants we're talking about, a team where every apparent blessing is secretly just a decade-long curse in disguise, waiting to reveal itself at the worst moment possible. And for the past eight weeks, everyone's sorta believed that Abdul Carter was destined to end up in New York with the third overall pick. Hell, even Abdul Carter thinks that. But according to The Athletic's Senior NFL Writer Dianna Russini, we're all jumping the gun. According to her, no one really knows what the Giants are going to do. That uneasy feeling in your stomach? I'd make your peace with it now.

It's the Giants' world in the 2025 NFL Draft and we're all just living in it

"No team has been generating more buzz around the NFL than the New York Giants — and league sources I spoke to seem split on what they’ll do. It’s widely known that both head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are running out of time, the roster has glaring needs, and the pressure to turn Big Blue into a contender again is real, especially in a division with the defending Super Bowl champions ... The Giants made waves last week by scheduling last-minute private workouts with quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders, Jalen Milroe and Tyler Shough. I’m told those workouts didn’t necessarily seal any decisions, but it’s clear New York is doing its homework. The team had Sanders ranked as its No. 1 quarterback headed into the combine, but things have since shifted."

On one hand, I do love the main character energy coming from the Giants right now. Someone's gotta grab this draft by the horns and put their mark on it, so it may as well be the Giants. If you look at all the different draft stats and next-gen info available to us now, it's pretty obvious to anyone paying attention that scared money doesn't make money. All press is good press, etc.

On the other hand, this is going to be a disater. This Giants front office is running the show. This Giants front office is in charge of how Thursday night's board falls. I legitimately can't think of anything more terrifying. Hopefully there's some Gen-Z scout in the war room who knows when to rein in the main character energy when the moment calls for it. Because you know the moment's going to call for it.
