With the 2024 NFL trade deadline sneaking up on us on Nov. 5, it's looking like the NY Giants are going to be sellers. Brian Daboll and Co. are 2-5 on the year and the team is coming off an absolutely embarrassing loss to the Eagles in Week 7.
With the Pittsburgh Steelers next up on the schedule, it's looking quite likely the G-Men are going to fall to 2-6. Yup, the season feels all but over. With that in mind, it could make sense for Joe Schoen to start looking at adding draft capital.
A player who has been mentioned quite a bit as a potential trade target has been fourth-year pass-rusher Azeez Ojulari. Ojulari has been able to stay healthy this year and he's been downright impressive. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, his sources are telling him Ojulari is already generating trade interest and more will surely be on the way ahead of the deadline.
NY Giants pass-rusher Azeez Ojulari could be traded by the deadline
"With star pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux slated to potentially return from injured reserve in Week 10, Ojulari is expected to be a player that teams target looking for edge help."Ian Rapoport
Through seven games this campaign, Ojulari has turned back the clock and looked like the edge-rusher we saw during his rookie season. Thus far, the standout has four sacks to his name, which has been great to see for him.
In back-to-back years, Ojulari dealt with injury issues, forcing him to miss 10 games in 2022 and six more in 2023. He's fully healthy, however, and making a difference with Kayvon Thibodeaux on Injured Reserve due to a wrist injury.
With the way the season is going for the Giants, it may make sense for a trade to get done. Ojulari is set to his free agency next offseason, so the G-Men and Schoen may look to at least get a decent draft pick in return for him. Thibodeaux will be back in Week 10, which will help the defense out if Ojulari indeed does get sent to a new team. It'll be on Schoen to make that call, but several teams will surely have interest in the playmaker.
