The New York Giants might’ve pulled off the biggest steal of the 2025 NFL Draft. With the 105th pick in the fourth round, they grabbed Arizona State star running back and Heisman finalist Cam Skattebo. And while that's great news for Big Blue Nation, it might not be so great for his teammate.

Even at the time, it felt like a heist. How does a guy with 1,711 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns — plus 605 receiving yards and three more scores — slip to Day 3? He’s not the biggest or flashiest athlete, and his age probably played a factor, but that level of production usually doesn’t wait long to hear its name called.

31 other teams had the chance and blew it. On Day 1 of training camp, Skatt was seemingly everywhere. It’s clear as day this kid is going to have a major role in Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka’s scheme — and it’s going to be electric.

Cam Skattebo is here, he's there, he's every...

Skattebo was everywhere. The rookie lit up practice from the jump, and it’s already obvious this team has a real weapon on its hands. The offense, which has spent the last few seasons allergic to the end zone, finally has a guy who can help change that. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart may be the long-term face, but Skattebo could be the one who changes things this fall.

Lining up with Jameis Winston — likely working as the third-string quarterback — Skattebo blew past an unblocked rusher, snapped into the flat, twisted to haul in a tough catch, and then zipped into the end zone untouched. It was smooth, explosive, and executed like he’d been in the system for years.

And it wasn’t a one-off.

Earlier in practice, Dart found him in the corner of the end zone on a wheel route, with Skattebo sliding into a soft spot in the zone. The connection looked effortless.

Right now, Tyrone Tracy Jr. is still the lead back. He earned it after a solid rookie campaign last year. But if Skattebo keeps flashing like this, it’s going to be hard to keep him off the field. He fits this offense too well to ride the bench.

It’s early, but this already looks like a player the fanbase can rally around. And if camp keeps going like this, it won’t be long before Skattebo turns from mid-round pick into a legitimate weapon Daboll can't keep off the field.
