It took George Pickens no time to give the Cowboys a new problem

Making fun of the Cowboys is never slim Pickens.

It’s always a great day for the New York Giants and their fans when the Dallas Cowboys manage to completely outdo themselves in the offseason dysfunction department.

While John Harbaugh is getting Big Blue gassed and building a physical powerhouse in East Rutherford, things down in Texas are already devolving into a comedy show. Jerry Jones is gonna Jerry, and nobody does it better.

We already got to laugh at their historic defensive blunder trading Micah Parsons away last year, but this time, it’s the offense making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The circus in Big D is officially back in town, and the tents are pitching themselves before we even hit June.

The latest episode of Cowboy Clown Show arrived courtesy of Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, who confirmed that star wideout George Pickens was a total no-show for the Cowboys' voluntary workouts on Tuesday.

Mind you, it was voluntary, but it was also the first workout since the wideout put pen to paper on his massive, one-year, $27.3 million franchise tag. While the rest of the roster showed up to put in work, their highly paid, erratic weapon apparently decided anywhere else was better.

Naturally, the spin doctors over at The Landry Hat are trying their absolute best to downplay the drama.

Jerry Trotta quickly pointed out that while it’s unclear exactly how many players attended, these early workouts typically churn out high attendance rates. He even confirmed that CeeDee Lamb bothered to show up.

The cope is already touching down in Dallas. Trotta wrote:

"Panic won't settle in until (if) Pickens skips mandatory workouts. Organized team activities (OTAs), which are voluntary, run from June 1-2, June 4, June 8-9, and June 11. It certainly won't be a great optic if Pickens skips those practices, but mandatory minicamp, which runs from June 16-18, is what Cowboys fans should bookmark with regard to the All-Pro's attendance."

Oh, we have certainly bookmarked it, Jerry! And let’s call it what it is: this is a terrible look -- especially after Jerry Jones and Co. have already publicly stated they're not interested in a long-term deal.

This situation is a ticking time bomb that guarantees maximum entertainment for Big Blue Nation. The 25-year-old has a well-documented history of letting frustration dictate his effort levels, and pairing that volatile personality with a front office that routinely trips over itself is a recipe for absolute disaster.

The regular season is still months away -- get ready for their Week 1 prime time matchup -- but the cracks in the Cowboys' foundation are already wide open, and Giants fans can sit back and enjoy the show.
