It’s only training camp, but New York Giants fans might finally have reason to celebrate again. When the team selected Abdul Carter third overall in the 2025 draft, he was widely regarded as the best pass-rushing prospect in the class.
There was a brief moment of “uh-oh” after the Jacksonville Jaguars traded with the Cleveland Browns for the No. 2 overall pick, but it turns out they were looking to secure two-way star Travis Hunter. That meant Carter would be there at No. 3 for the taking.
Fortunately, Joe Schoen didn’t overthink it and got the best player available... or potentially just the best player. It’s been a strong offseason for the rookie already, but he quickly proved that strong can always get stronger. Carter’s second day of training camp might’ve just made the Jaguars instantly regret passing on him. And we have video proof they should.
Abdul Carter just made the Jaguars look silly for passing on him
Just look at the way Carter violently throws John Michael Schmitz out of the way like he’s not 320 pounds. No regard for the man’s health, ankles, knees, or dignity. And if this is what he’s willing to do to his teammates, imagine what he’s going to do to his opponents.

Carter lines up inside on this rep, hinting at how defensive coordinator Shane Bowen might deploy him in different fronts. If this is part of the plan, sign me up:

I suggest re-watching the video with a slower playback speed. He just throws JMS out of the frame, literally. Like, by the end of the clip, Michael Schmitz is nowhere to be seen. That’s crazy.
On the off chance you somehow still need more convincing, here’s one last clip that should do the trick:

That’s incredible speed and quickness, and his quick inside-out shoulder dip worked perfectly, avoiding the grip of the offensive tackle.
On the off, off chance you’re still not convinced by Carter’s tape, here’s one more video from camp that might sway your opinion.
Typically, I’m not for rookie-on-rookie... on-rookie crime, but this clip is just too good not to share with the masses. Poor Marcus Mbow didn’t stand a chance against an upright bull rush from Carter. From the snap, Mbow got pushed immediately inside by the strength of the pass rusher, causing the play to blow up instantly and forcing Dart to take a “sack” from the relentless pressure:
Abdul Carter is going to be a problem #giants (and yes no pads and it’s second team) pic.twitter.com/cW5b2DLsEP

Disclaimer: Yes, they aren't wearing pads yet, and there’s still a long road to Week 1, but Carter's been nothing short of electric, so we're absolutely buzzing.
The most exciting part is that the Giants aren’t boxing him into a single role. He’s getting looks on the edge, inside, standing up, dropping back — Bowen is moving him around like a chess piece with baaaad intentions. And so far, every move is ending with Carter in the backfield and the guy trying to block him yards away.
The Jaguars clearly prioritized versatility and upside when they jumped the G-Men to take Travis Hunter. But if Carter keeps annihilating O-lines like this and ends up anchoring the front seven the way it’s starting to look, Jacksonville might have traded up just to pass on the better player.
