The New York Giants have their quarterback.
They effectively shut the door on the Aaron Rodgers drama by reportedly signing Jameis Winston to a two-year deal. Winston is the veteran quarterback the team needed. The only remaining question is whether they will add a rookie early in the draft — will the Giants land their long-term starter at No. 3 overall?
That's a question for another day. For now, we can enjoy the smart move to bring in Winston, who offers the experience and leadership the Giants need in their quarterback room.
Winston is an incredible person, and it won't take long for Giants fans to love him. He is already becoming a fan favorite after his reaction to signing with the team.

Within minutes of Tom Pelissero's report that Winston had signed with the Giants, the former first-overall pick took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the news.

He posted: "Stat spreading the neWs," followed by an apple emoji, referencing the Big Apple, of course. The capitalized W is a hilarious callback to his famous "Eat a W" speech from his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On the field, Winston is the ideal quarterback to get the ball to Malik Nabers early and often. While he isn't the Giants' long-term answer, he will have an important role this season.

New York will almost certainly draft a quarterback at some point, perhaps even at No. 3 overall, depending on who is available. Winston can lead the way and help a rookie adjust to the NFL game.
The Giants got this one right. Signing Winston to a two-year deal makes so much more sense than attempting to go all-in for a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers and all the unnecessary drama that would come with it.
Winston is a great addition to the quarterback room and can help the Giants in the short and long term.
