The New York Giants' future is officially here, and we have every reason to be hyped about it.
Rookie mini-camp kicked off on Friday, giving the team’s draft picks and undrafted signees their first opportunity to take the field. Giants fans followed along on social media, watching the newest members of Big Blue get their first reps and speak to the media at the team facility.
Not only did we get a first-hand look at this year’s rookies, but we also saw clips of Super Bowl champion Michael Strahan in attendance, giving a speech to the rookies after practice.
After a successful draft last month, Big Blue fans have been excited about the franchise’s future. We’re finally getting a first-hand look at the behind-the-scenes clips from the war room on draft night and the overall draft process in a YouTube series on the team’s channel calledGiants Life: 2025 NFL Draft.
The first episode featured Abdul Carter, as the cameras rolled through the third overall pick’s pre-draft meetings with Brian Daboll and the coaching staff, and Joe Schoen’s phone call on draft night that officially made him a Giant.
The second episode featured the Giants’ other first-round pick, Jaxson Dart. We got to see Schoen’s process of trading up with the Houston Texans to take Dart at No. 25, and even saw the Giants’ newest quarterback put to the test, being asked to draw up plays in his pre-draft meetings with Daboll.
It’s safe to say these clips have gone viral, and overall, the Giants fanbase has had a positive reaction on social media—unlike last year, when we saw the cameras rolling during HBO's Hard Knocks.
One of the best clips from the series came at the end of the first episode, when we saw a conversation between Dart and Carter in the locker room the day after the draft. Dart told Carter that in all his meetings, he told everyone the former Penn State edge rusher was the best guy he’s played against.
Abdul Carter gets the best compliment he could’ve asked for from his QB
Carter and Dart were once on opposite sidelines, but now, every Sunday, they’ll be on the same one. The two wasted no time getting to know each other when they stepped into the Giants’ facility the morning after hearing their names called in the NFL Draft.
It was nothing but love from Dart to Carter, as he praised the former Penn State edge rusher by calling him the best player he faced in his collegiate career.
Dart played 45 games between his first year at USC and three seasons at Ole Miss—and only faced Carter once.
The two went head-to-head in the 2023 Peach Bowl, where Ole Miss defeated Penn State 38-25. Dart completed 25 of his 40 passes for 379 yards and three touchdowns. Carter stood out as well, recording three tackles and one pass defense.
Carter also took down Dart in the first quarter of that game, but the former Ole Miss quarterback was able to get the ball out just in time to avoid a sack. We’ll see this matchup again soon when the pads come on this summer during training camp—but hopefully, Carter will take it easy on Dart this time.
Although they’ll line up on opposite sides of the ball, this is the best kind of compliment Carter could’ve asked for. If he wasn’t already motivated and excited to be here, hearing his new quarterback speak so highly of him should do the trick. And if that doesn’t get Giants fans fired up, I don’t know what will.
