The New York Giants will be must-see TV in 2026. An extremely busy offseason continues to turn up the hype meter with just under two months to go until the preseason begins.
Conor Orr of SI.com put together a fantastic list of 100 Bold Predictions for the 2026 NFL season, and there were some highlights pertaining to the Giants. At the top of the list, in terms of things related to the G-Men, was Jaxson Dart edging out the rest of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks in rushing yards this upcoming season.
It sounds bold, but there is actually a lot of evidence suggesting it could happen.
Jaxson Dart has a real shot to lead NFL quarterbacks in rushing
When looking at last season, Dart finished third among quarterbacks in rushing yards with 487 yards in 14 games. He trailed Buffalo’s Josh Allen and the Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert, but narrowly. That gives some indication that he could be a top runner next season, as he was very close.
This is where things get interesting for Dart, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, and head coach John Harbaugh. There might be too many hands in the cookie jar.
Looking at the last few days and the influx of talent at wide receiver, including the return of fan favorite Odell Beckham Jr., there should be every reason in the world to throw the ball in 2026. Of course, there is also the unknown timetable for star wideout Malik Nabers, who might not be ready to go in September.
Dart is a successful runner and as mobile as some of the fastest quarterbacks in the league. His only knock last season was that he decided to take matters into his own hands to grab some extra yardage, and fans already want him to know that his health comes first.
Not to mention the impending return of Cam Skattebo and the potential breakout of Tyrone Tracy Jr. There are just too many options with this offense to declare them a pass-first or run-first team.
Depending on the effectiveness of the offensive line, this upcoming year could see Dart scramble more than he has to. If nothing is open, he may need to tuck it and run, thus giving him the edge to surpass all the other quarterbacks in the league.
Dart’s ability to achieve this goal of being the NFL’s rushing leader among quarterbacks is possible, but not necessary. With so many anticipated weapons in his arsenal, this should be the season that he sits back in the pocket or hands the ball off more than he did in 2025.
Running around with the pigskin should be a last resort.
