There is no question that the New York Giants’ best chance at a playoff revival rests on the shoulders of quarterback Jaxson Dart. This team’s floor and ceiling depend on the performance and health of their rising star passer.

At the Giants Town Hall this week, there was a lighthearted, but serious, statement made by a fan in regard to No. 6 for this upcoming season. Let us just hope that he decides to listen to them.

Slide.

Giants fans want Jaxson Dart to protect himself in 2026

There is no winning Giants football team in 2026 without Dart staying healthy. We all saw in Baltimore how much head coach John Harbaugh relied on the legs and acceleration of quarterback Lamar Jackson. If he wants to try and replicate that, to some degree, Dart is going to have to do the one thing that not many quarterbacks fully master.

Get down.

Get down, No. 6, and try to be smart with your scrambles. For the first time in a long time, the G-Men have a very capable backfield, with Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr. en route to rack up some serious yardage in 2026. Of course, that is only if Skatt is ready to go in Week 1.

Letting Dart scramble every other down might not be necessary with how well this run game is projected to be. But if there is a situation that requires the Ole Miss product to break out of the pocket and pick up some necessary yards, he has to get down and out of harm’s way.

With the expectation being that this franchise will re-enter the competitive field, Dart has to be the catalyst. Him getting hurt completely derails any and all thoughts of that. Fellow QB Jameis Winston is anticipated to be the backup, and he can be a steady thrower. But the differences between the two would be stark and completely unravel any kind of game plan for the season.

Dart might say now that he wants to barrel through whatever competition stands in his way, but let’s tone it down there, chief. Giants fans want to see your bravado, but they also want you to be a part of this winning franchise in 2026. This team needs you, and there is no need to prove how tough you are when it all comes down to one thing, which is winning games.

Winning gets exponentially harder with No. 6 off the field, especially since there is another key part of this Giants offense with a cloudy future ahead of him in wide receiver Malik Nabers.
