Jeremiyah Love’s pre-draft comments just added fuel to the Giants fire

Jeremiyah Love might’ve just talked himself right into New York. Not necessarily in a headline-worthy way -- more like he let the vision slip out at a Raising Cane's of all places, and now Giants fans can’t un-hear it.

Most prospects keep things generic this time of year. They give scripted pre-draft answers, no real tells, nothing that ties them too closely to one team. Love didn’t exactly go that route. He started talking about what the Giants are building, and it sounded a lot like someone who’s already imagined what his role would be in it.

And the funny part is, he didn’t even get every detail right. Didn’t matter.

Here’s the quote that’s making the rounds (via NY Post Sports on X), and it’s easy to see why:

"They're building something special over there, I feel like. They just got that really big fullback [Patrick Ricard] -- I think he was with the Ravens -- forgot his name, but they're getting that running game together. I think I would do great things with the Giants."

Jeremiyah Love’s pre-draft comments sound like a Giants pitch

The “forgot his name” part, while describing one of the largest humans coming out of the backfield in the league, is hilarious, but he'll learn soon enough. For the record, it's Patrick "Pancake Pat" Ricard. I'm talking about 300 pounds of pancakes. Beyond that, he basically outlined everything the Giants want to be in 2026.

It starts with new head coachJohn Harbaugh and a run-first identity built on physically imposing their will and controlling the tempo. And the 20-year-old former Fighting Irishman all but confirmed he's with it.

At 212 pounds with true breakaway speed, Love can turn a rushing lane into something explosive in a hurry. Pair his Yankees-esque home run ability with Ricard mashing the way, and it’s not hard to picture Big Blue's ground game becoming something dangerous.

What does stand out is how naturally he was trying to speak it into existence: “They’re getting that running game together.” That sounds like someone afraid of missing out, and I'd know -- I have a terrible case of FOMO myself.

The Giants already have gas coming out in the backfield with Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr. Love would bring gas from another dimension. He's a three-down workhorse back, capable of just about anything asked of him, whether that be with his legs, through the air, or blocking.

Maybe it was just a quote. Maybe he knows something we don't.

But when Jeremiyah Love describes a team’s blueprint that cleanly -- and then casually says he’d thrive in it -- it might make fans feel like there's a little bit of some premonition going on.
