The New York Giants had a big first day of free agency. They agreed to deals with seven players, but one of the most notable names was former Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely, who played under John Harbaugh for four seasons. He is a much-needed weapon for Jaxson Dart and now joins a tight end room that includes Theo Johnson, Chris Manhertz, and Thomas Fidone II.

They also signed Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who is a massive upgrade over recently released Bobby Okereke and should thrive in New York in a Dennard Wilson-led defense. The two-time Pro Bowler is a former first-round pick and comes to the G-Men with a plethora of experience.

However, those deals nearly paled in comparison to the re-signing of right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor to a 3-year, $39 million deal, which, by the way, is an absolute steal. This move helps the Giants get closer to solidifying their offensive line, although they still need a right guard.

The Giants' re-signing Jermaine Eluemunor means everything to the fans

Not only did Eluemunor re-sign with the Giants, but he also posted on his personal X account to let fans know, and then sent a follow-up post to thank them for the love and support he has received since arriving in New York.

Since leaving the Raiders two years ago, the 31-year-old has excelled in every role he’s been asked to play. He's filled in at left tackle when Andrew Thomas was injured, played guard, and manned the right side of the line exceptionally well.

The 10-year veteran played a significant role in the Giants’ offensive line’s success last year, which you could argue was the best the team has had in over a decade. While Eluemunor has been nothing short of everything the G-Men have asked for him on the field, it's his veteran leadership and loyalty to the team off the field that have stood out the most and made him a fan favorite.

After the Titans signed four of the G-Men’s free agents on Day 1: Wan’Dale Robinson, Daniel Bellinger, Cor’Dale Flott, and Austin Schlottman, many feared that Eluemunor would be joining them and would also be reuniting with Brian Daboll and Carmen Bricillo. But that was not the case.

Not only do the fans love Eluemunor, but the Giants’ legends do as well, like Carl Banks, who quote-tweeted the veteran right tackle’s post and said, “You earned it big dawg.”

If that doesn’t tell you how much he loves playing for this team and how much of a true leader he is, I don’t know what does. He defines what it means to be a Giant and is more than deserving to be a captain in 2026. You can tell he truly cares about the fans, and that means everything to Big Blue fans.

Hopefully, Big Blue isn't done making moves. This is just the start, as Harbaugh and Joe Schoen have a lot of work to do to get this team ready for training camp in August.
