Joe Schoen and the New York Giants will not stop acing the 2025 NFL Draft. Seriously, after every pick it's like, "Man, that was a smart pick." And what do you know? Even in the fifth round, Schoen and Co. are still finding significant value.

After opening the draft by landing Abdul Carter, Jaxson Dart, and Darius Alexander, Joe Schoen kept the momentum rolling on Day 3. The day started with a bang—Arizona State's running back Cam Skattebo. He'll instantly be a fan favorite and sneaky threat to Tyrone Tracy Jr., but the G-Men weren't close to being done improving the roster.

With the No. 154 overall pick in the fifth round, the Giants snagged Purdue offensive lineman Marcus Mbow — a prospect many expected to come off the board much earlier. It’s the kind of move that can quietly change the trajectory of a roster rebuild.

Giants land incredible value with Marcus Mbow in Round 5

At 6-foot-4 and 303 pounds, Mbow projects inside at the NFL level, where his quickness and strike power will be best utilized.

But don't tell that to the Purdue standout—he's making sure his versatility gets the eyes it deserves. Mbow said during the pre-draft process that he’s been working at center in addition to guard and tackle, and he genuinely believes he can play all five offensive line positions at the next level.

That versatility only makes this pick even more electric—and valuable—for the Giants as they rework their trenches.

The Giants plan to try Evan Neal at guard this season, but Mbow isn’t going to back down from competing for snaps, especially with his experience and movement skills. Even if he doesn’t crack the starting lineup right away, he’s the type of player who should stick—and stick for a long time.

It’s also clear that Mbow was expecting to hear his name called much earlier. He hosted a draft party Friday night, fully expecting to go on Day 2. Instead, the Giants waited patiently and scooped up a hungry, motivated lineman with starter traits in the fifth round. The value here is mind-boggling.

We can't tell the whole story about the draft slide without his injury history. In 2023, Mbow suffered a season-ending leg injury, but bounced back in 2024, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten honors. Some scouts believe there could be some lingering issues, but a Round 3 steal in Round 5 is sweet.

In a draft where Schoen has checked every box so far, Marcus Mbow feels like one of his craftiest moves yet.
