Let’s try to focus on the facts.

Of the fired NFL head coaches who took coordinator or assistant jobs this offseason, few have gotten more attention than ex-New York Giants coach Brian Daboll.

Daboll landed on his feet fairly quickly following his November 2025 firing, taking the Titans’ offensive coordinator job and teaming up with second-year quarterback Cam Ward.

Given Daboll’s success as the Bills’ offensive coordinator when he had Josh Allen at quarterback, we understand the optimism about a Daboll and Ward partnership.

But the national media has taken things way too far throughout the spring and summer, creating a revisionist history narrative and painting Daboll as an offensive mastermind rather than someone who oversaw some dreadful Giants offenses.

If you’re tired of hearing about Daboll the quarterback guru, trust us: We are, too.

Why are people so reluctant to admit the truth about Brian Daboll?

When national media outlets such as Bleacher Report or The Athletic hype up Daboll, we typically hear the same talking points, such as the Wan’Dale Robinson signing or Daboll’s history with Allen.

Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton joined the club on Monday, listing the Titans among the NFL’s five most improved offenses. The Giants were nowhere to be found, which is another conversation entirely.

Even if you’re someone extremely high on Ward, we need to collectively stop assuming the Titans will be good solely because Daboll is the new playcaller.

Did anyone watch the 2023 Giants offense that finished No. 30 in points, No. 29 in yards, and had the league’s worst yard differential? Saquon Barkley gave the Giants 1,242 yards from scrimmage on 4.3 yards per touch, for what it’s worth.

What about the 2024 Giants? With Barkley infamously leaving for the Eagles, the Giants finished No. 30 in yards and No. 31 in points. Plenty of fans were surprised the team even bothered to keep Daboll.

Ward took an NFL-leading 55 sacks last year, and the Titans elected to select Carnell Tate rather than continue to upgrade the offensive line. Good luck with that one.

None of this is to say that Daboll can’t be a successful head coach down the road. We’re not even doubting that he can help Ward become an above-average quarterback.

The clock is ticking down to Week 3, when we’ll finally see if Daboll can validate the offseason buzz by getting revenge on the Giants.

Otherwise, Giants fans can pull the “told-you-so” card on the Daboll supporters, and that’d be the cherry on top.
