After their upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles last Thursday night, vibes around the New York Giants have been very high.
The G-Men were rightfully not given any chance to win this game, especially after dropping their previous eight games against their division rivals and being without Malik Nabers for the rest of the season and their No. 2 receiver, Darius Slayton, with a hamstring injury. Not to mention, the Eagles are the reigning Super Bowl champions.
But thanks to their two rookie phenom quarterback and running back— Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo — who combined for four touchdowns, New York, in decisive fashion, defeated their NFC East foes, 34-17 for just the second time in their last eight matchups. The statement win was so good, it resulted in them getting an A+ grade for the first time in what feels like forever.
Giants given A+ grade after statement win over Eagles
In an article for CBS Sports, John Breech gave his weekly grades for teams across the NFL. When it came time to grade New York's win over Philly, deservingly, he gave Big Blue thebest grade you can get:
"For the first time since 2023, the Giants won a divisional game and they did it by riding their rookies to victory," Breech wrote. "This team is suddenly fun to watch and that's all thanks to Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo."
"Dart is just as effective with his legs as he is with his arm and he showed that off against Philly with 195 yards passing, 58 yards rushing and two total touchdowns. As for Skattebo, the fourth-round pick is looking like the steal of the draft. Not only did he steamroll the Eagles' defense for 5.2 yards per carry, but he also scored three touchdowns," Breech added.
The G-Men may be 2-4 with a gauntlet of a schedule coming up, but this team has been fun to watch ever since Dart took over as the starter. For so long, this team has been so hard to watch due to poor quarterback play, questionable coaching decisions, and just heartbreaking finishes to games they should've won. Perhaps that narrative is finally changing.
Vibes around the Giants all of a sudden seem great, and Dart seems to be leading the way in changing them. While it may be premature and wrong to say this team is playoff-bound in 2025, you can't help but feel excited about what's to come throughout the rest of this season and beyond.
