The New York Giants have a major quarterback problem… or lack thereof. It’s kind of like their whole 2025 offseason personality. It’s a really good time.
Other than Matthew Stafford turning the Giants’ trade offer into a contract extension with the Los Angeles Rams, two of their top options heading to new cities (Justin Fields to the New York Jets and Sam Darnold to the Seattle Seahawks), and the remaining free agent quarterbacks feeling out the best situation for themselves, the Giants’ quarterback situation is great. It’s only the single biggest decision Big Blue needs to make this offseason. No. Big. Deal.
Well, after the news that it might take Aaron Rodgers a few years to figure out where he wants to go, the G-Men’s attention has seemingly fully turned to Russell Wilson or bust. He is planning on meeting with the Giants this week. However, Russ has also been entertaining the free-agency love, especially from the Cleveland Browns. He just met with them to discuss his future too. What a time to be alive.
The Giants finally get some good quarterback news
You’ve probably heard people say, “Don’t let them out of the building until a deal is done.” It typically pertains to free agents visiting facilities and the fanbase hoping that they will do whatever it takes to get a deal done that day.
Well, Wilson was meeting with the Browns today, and needless to say, he very much left with no deal. The Giants are still expected to meet with Wilson, giving him a second chance to re-think what's best for him.
Cleveland did everything they could to lock Wilson down. They rolled out Myles Garrett and Deshaun Watson to convince him that the Browns are the right move. Garrett makes sense—he’s one of the best defensive players in the league and just signed a historic extension. But Watson? LOL.
Regardless, Wilson didn’t bite. And now, the Giants finally have their shot.
Russell Wilson is still on schedule to visit the Giants tomorrow.

If Aaron Rodgers hasn’t gotten off his camel (or beach) and made up his mind by then, the Giants would be smart to sign Wilson before he leaves, if they can.
If not they risk having no QB when the music stops. https://t.co/21eFSBOinN
This is the moment for general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll. They need a quarterback, and Wilson is essentially the last legitimate option left. If he walks out of East Rutherford without a contract, what’s left? Hope that Aaron Rodgers finally makes up his mind? Try to throw another rookie out there on day one and hope for the best?
The Giants can’t afford to mess this up. They’ve already missed out on Stafford, Fields, and Darnold. Wilson might not be elite anymore, but he’s still a better option than anything else on the table. If they don’t get this done, they’ll be right back where they started—stuck in quarterback purgatory, with no real answers. Don't let him leave without a deal.
