New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers became a superstar almost immediately after arriving in East Rutherford. His electric rookie season took the league by storm, quickly pushing him into top-ten receiver discussions.

Nabers broke the Giants' single-season record for receptions in his rookie season with 109. The spot was previously held by Steve Smith, who logged 107 catches in 2009.

Conversations around the Giants' wide receiver this offseason have largely centered around his health. Still recovering from the knee injury that cut his 2025 season short, Nabers isn't a lock to be ready for Week 1. But if he can get and stay healthy, he will have a chance to blow his receptions record out of the water in 2026.

Malik Nabers could break his own Giants receptions record in 2026

It's important to note that Nabers didn't even play a full season in his rookie year. He missed two games with a concussion, limiting him to just 15 total games. And he still broke the record set by Smith, who played a full season in 2009.

So with a full 17 games to play, it's easy to see how Nabers could beat his own receptions record. He's still the clear No. 1 receiver in New York's offense. In fact, the receiver room may be even thinner after losing Wan'Dale Robinson (who had 92 catches last season) in free agency. Darius Slayton and Calvin Austin III shouldn't present Nabers with much competition for targets.

He should even have better quarterback play in 2026 than he had when he broke the record. He was playing with Daniel Jones and Drew Lock for most of the 2024 season. Due largely to quarterback inaccuracy, the receiver caught just 64% of passes thrown his way that year. Bake in some improved accuracy from Jaxson Dart, and Nabers could see his numbers skyrocket.

Of course, health is the main thing holding him back here. The Giants have put out somewhat conflicting reports over the offseason, with John Harbaugh calling the ailment "not a simple Knee" and Joe Schoen saying he expects Nabers to be ready to go by Week 1.

We don't want Nabers to rush back onto the field. The Giants receiver can't afford to worsen the injury. But if he can come back healthy within the first week or two of the season, he could be set to easily beat his receptions record.
