For the second year in a row, the New York Giants have reached this feeble mark.
The Giants dropped their eighth straight game on Sunday to the Washington Commanders, 29-21, in front of what was a near-empty MetLife Stadium. From the start, New York found itself trailing, and despite making it interesting towards the very end, questionable play-calling and costly mistakes resulted in the GiG-Menants falling to 2-12 for the second year in a row.
Big Blue is now 0-4 under interim head coach Mike Kafka since taking over for Brian Daboll. And if there was any sliver of hope that Kafka could wind up becoming the team's next full-time coach in 2026, Sunday's postgame comments might've sealed his fate.
Mike Kafka just insulted Giants fans in the worst way
Kaf met with reporters following the loss, and when asked about New York's losing ways, it was tough to take the 38-year-old seriously, especially considering that losing has been a disease for this team for years now.
"This is an opportunity for our team to learn from these opportunities, these situations and grow and continue to grow," Kafka said. "These situations, a lot of time, kickstart something really great, that's what I'm looking forward to this week in practice, to see how our guys respond and I know they will respond the right way."
Look, Mike Kafka is an excellent play-caller, and maybe he'll be a head coach down the road, either here or elsewhere, but these comments don't match what we have seen from this Giants team over the last couple of seasons -- the same team he's been on since 2022.

Aside from drafting Jaxson Dart and adding a few pieces in free agency last offseason, this is nearly the same team that went a dismal 3-14 last year, as well as finishing with a disappointing record of 6-11 in 2023 after reaching the playoffs the year prior. So, it's hard to take Kafka by his word when he thinks this ongoing losing streak is an "opportunity" for the Giants to grow.
It hasn't just been these last three seasons that have been a struggle to watch. Since winning the Super Bowl in 2012, they have only reached the playoffs twice (2016 and 2022), have three winning seasons (2012, 2016, 2022), one playoff victory (2022), and have 10 seasons with double-digit losses. It's a joke.
The Giants quite simply have been a bad football team for years now. These postgame comments shouldn't, and probably won't, offer any assurance to a frustrating fanbase. Kudos for trying.
