The opening act of the New York Giants' 2025 season is about to begin on Sunday down in Washington. Looking at the entire schedule, there is much to be said about how this season can potentially go.

With a perfect preseason under their belt, which has proven to be a curse in the past for other teams like the winless Detroit Lions in 2008, there is an uncertainty with this team's trajectory.

How many wins can they generate with the league's toughest schedule? Or, how low can they go in the NFC East standings?

Giants projected win total ranges from playoff hopeful to bottom feeder

The G-Men have a chance to be contenders and pretenders at the same time. Everyone wants to believe that they have finally found the secret formula for success, but it is hard to ignore just how terrible this franchise has been for quite a while now.

To put a definitive number on it, this team should be labeled as a team that could sneak into the playoffs at 11-6, or crumble with a 3-14 record in 2025. In fact, there might not be another team in the entirety of the NFL that has a higher differential in terms of how good or bad they will be this upcoming season.

CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr recently stated New York's ceiling is 7-10, while their floor is 4-13. He points to the potentially terrifying defensive front for optimism, while putting the spotlight on the offensive line for their downfall.

With three NFL-ready quarterbacks at their disposal, the mantra for this upcoming season should be "next man up". Captain Russell Wilson will get first dibs on being the starting QB, but do not anticipate him running the whole gauntlet. Jaxson Dart, who was just listed as the backup over Jameis Winston, should get some action in some kind of fashion this upcoming season.

The only way that does not happen is if the Giants are in a playoff position with Wilson still at the helm.

Aside from the QB play, the other defining factor in how well Big Blue does this season will rest on the shoulders of the defense. Focus on the front seven; these guys are going to have a big spotlight on them throughout the season. Especially Abdul Carter, who has the hype and aura as a second-coming of the greatest player in Big Blue history, Lawrence Taylor.

No matter the final result of the season, for the first time in a long time, you should be looking forward to Giants football. There is a sense of hope with this franchise now, and that is evident with the players, coaches, and even the fans. Let's just see what that might look like.
