Spring is usually the time for blind optimism across the NFL, but apparently, someone forgot to tell the rest of the NFC East. While the New York Giants are essentially mainlining adrenaline in East Rutherford, the vibes in Dallas, Philly, and D.C. have all the energy of an absolute snooze fest.
Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon recently released his 2026 NFL Excitement Meter, and the results confirmed what Giants fans already knew: the G-Men are the only actual exciting team in the division. With a pretty electric nine out of 10 on the meter, Big Blue is officially must-watch football, while the rest of the NFC East is stuck in a state of meh with sixes across the board.
It’s almost poetic, isn’t it? The shine of Jerry Jones’s usual antics isn’t enough to keep the Cowboys interesting, the Eagles are tush-pushing their way into boredom, and the Commanders are doing their best “we’re still here” act. Meanwhile, John Harbaugh and Co. are going full Hollywood, and second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart is the headliner.
Giants are waking up an NFC East that’s been sleepwalking
In a world where the Cowboys and Eagles are stuck at a mediocre six, that’s a massive gap. Gagnon correctly notes that Big Blue is loaded with intriguing young talent and a Super Bowl-winning head coach. While everyone else... looks the same.
The arrival of Harbs has turned MetLife Stadium from a house of horrors into a fortress of opportunity.
Look at Dallas. A six feels pretty generous for a team that went 7-9-1 and decided the best course of action was to change absolutely nothing. It’s the same old story every year: this is the year they go back to the Super Bowl, they say.
Sure, and I’m next in line for the Iron Throne.
And Philly? The status quo for a still-flawed team that might trade away A.J. Brown? Yikes. The Eagles-fans-are-actually-enjoying-this era feels like a lifetime ago, and the energy in the City of Brotherly Love is currently hovering somewhere between frustrated and checked out.
As for the Commies, it’s the Jayden Daniels show or bust. If his health doesn't hold up -- a very unfortunate, yet legitimate concern -- Washington becomes arguably the most uninteresting team in professional sports.
The contrast is jarring.
Meanwhile, in North Jersey, it’s practically impossible not to be excited about the ’26 season. Dart’s heading into Year 2 with a new head coach and offensive coordinator, some new weapons, a road-paver up front, and a healthy duo in Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo. On defense, they added a demon in Arvell Reese and upgraded the secondary with Colton Hood, and Abdul Carter looks ready for a breakout. Not to mention Brian Burns is coming off an NFC-leading 16.5 sacks.
So, excuse me while I get carried away. It’s been a while since this team was actually exciting.
