Giants have the makings of becoming the NFL’s 2026 fun police

Cue the sirens.

The New York Giants were the first team officially eliminated from playoff contention last year. Following up a 3-14 nightmare in 2024 with a 4-13 follow-up performance was a massive disaster for everyone involved in East Rutherford, including the fans.

But life moves fast in the NFL, and the outhouse-to-penthouse trajectory is the goal for this new-look roster.

John Harbaugh is now leading the charge with a fully revamped coaching staff. The team also added elite talent throughout free agency and the draft. The energy around the facility has shifted completely toward a winning culture. And Giants fans aren't the only ones realizing it.

Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport recently listed the G-Men as one of the eight teams most likely to crash the playoff party in 2026. The rest of the NFC is currently planning its January celebrations. The Giants are preparing to show up uninvited:

"Last year, the New England Patriots made a massive leap forward from a 4-13 tomato can in 2023 and 2024 to 14 wins and a berth in Super Bowl LX in 2025. This isn't to say that the New York Giants are going to win the NFC in 2026. But if there's a team in the NFL that's set up to go from the outhouse to the penthouse in 2026, it's the G-Men.
...
There are multiple similarities to those Patriots from a year ago. Like New England, the Giants have a promising quarterback entering his second season in Jaxson Dart. Like the Pats, the Giants have a veteran head coach taking the reins in John Harbaugh.

The Giants haven't won 10 games in a decade. If they can stay healthy, that dry spell will end in 2026."

The Giants are ready to play fun police and ruin every party in the NFC

Harbaugh and new defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson are building a team designed to shut down the music and end the festivities early.

The name of the game is physicality. Offenses are going to struggle against a lights-out defensive philosophy that prioritizes stopping the ground game and deleting quarterbacks.

The addition of rookie offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa gives franchise QB hopeful Jaxson Dart the protection he needs to sustain long, soul-crushing drives. With Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo back healthy, providing the explosive plays, the G-Men can now dictate the tempo of the game rather than playing catch-up.

On the other side of the ball, Abdul Carter, Arvell Reese, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux form a pass-rush group that’s going to be a problem. Their ability to make life miserable for opposing offenses could finally be the thing that gets this defense out of the basement.

Big Blue is staring down a decade-long drought of 10-win seasons. Most of the league still views this team as a bottom-tier squad. They are about to realize that Harby has turned this group into the ultimate buzzkill for their playoff aspirations. When the postseason party starts, don't be surprised when the Fun Police are kicking down the door.
