Everything about the New York Giants' 2025 season switched once Malik Nabers tore his ACL. There's no doubt his season-ending injury is going to have lasting effects that will haunt this team all season long.
Leek’s loss is a massive blow for an offense that was finally figuring it out. His absence bumps Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson into bigger roles — spots they haven’t exactly thrived in. Jalin Hyatt’s still on the roster somewhere, but head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka have shown zero interest in giving the former Biletnikoff winner and Tennessee standout a real shot.
With Nabers now on IR, the question becomes what Joe Schoen does next to patch the roster. There’s been some Odell Beckham Jr. speculation, a few blockbuster trade ideas thrown around, and even a little Gabe Davis-Daboll and Schoen reunion buzz. But leave it to The Athletic’s Dan Duggan to pour ice water on the idea that Davis could be an option for Nabers' replacement:
He's on the Bills' practice squad IR. So, he's not healthy and even if the Giants tried to poach him, have to assume the Bills would just sign him https://t.co/Yiah0Cx5fA

Gabe Davis reunion buzz shut down as Giants face WR dilemma
Davis is currently on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad IR. Even if the G-Men tried to poach him, the Bills would have every opportunity to block the move — and based on how thin they are at receiver, they probably would.
And that’s before even getting into the medical situation.

The 26-year-old is still rehabbing from a torn meniscus that cut his 2024 season short. His stock was already falling before the injury. He only caught 20 passes for 239 yards and two scores in 10 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars before they released him. The down year, paired with the knee, tanked his market value, eventually leading to the Bills giving him another shot upstate.
The Davis-Daboll connection is what's driving the rumors. Dabs was the receiver's offensive coordinator for the first two years of his career in Buffalo. The two combined for 70 receptions, 1,148 yards, and 13 touchdowns. But that version of Davis is long gone.
OBJ has been floated around. D.J. Moore has been thrown out there, too. Even an Isaiah Hodgins reunion could be on the table. It's all to say, there are a lot of options on the table, but one thing is clear: Schoen can't sit on his hands and do nothing.
No one is going to replace Nabers. Replacing generational talents is impossible. But the Giants still have 13 games to play, and Jaxson Dart still needs guys to throw to. If this front office is serious about building something, getting him help is a must — not just familiar faces from Buffalo.
