The greatest pastime of being a New York Giants fanis making fun of Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys. There is nothing more gratifying than witnessing America's Team make a bonehead decision that often sees the entire NFC East make fun of Jones and the Cowboys for their ineptitude.
Dallas' decision to trade Micah Parsons to Green Bay saw the entire NFL hop on the bandwagon, and that's the trade that keeps on giving. They traded some of the draft capital they got for Parsons to the Jets for Quinnen Williams, while Kenny Clark has made a minimal impact on Matt Eberflus' defense.
The 30-year-old is a shell of the game-wrecking defensive tackle he once was with the Packers, and isn't expected to be in Dallas long-term. As NFL Trade Rumors' Logan Ulrich pointed out, Clark could become a cap casualty in Dallas this offseason in large part due to his incredibly expensive price tag.
Kenny Clark's impending release somehow makes the Micah Parsons trade look worse
Ulrich went over cap casualties for all 32 teams, but Clark was the first name he listed for the Cowboys. Despite the UCLA product enjoying an impressive first season in the Lone Star State, Jones has his team in salary purgatory, which makes for an extraordinarily difficult climb to get out of.
Clark was supposed to be making over $20 million per year for each of the next two seasons, but the Parsons trade saw Green Bay take on most of his contract to the point he comes with just a $2.3 million cap hit this season, while his contract comes with a potential out after the season.
If he isn't released this offseason, he'll be making over $20 million per season in both 2026 and 2027, so it makes no sense why he would be retained. And while both Williams and Osa Odighizuwa are making over $20 million per season, that's money better spent on a new George Pickens extension.
The 2016 first-round pick was more involved in the trade as a veteran leader for Eberflus' defense, who can help the Cowboys win now, but they are firmly on the playoff bubble. And according to Pro Football Focus, his 51.4 run defense grade leaves a lot to be desired for a defense that struggles to stop the run.
As the Clark saga continues and Jones contemplates his future in Dallas, Giants fans should get their popcorn ready in order to witness the shenanigans that will ensue, especially if they instead decide to keep him and pay that hefty sum of money.
