The New York Giants might be struggling in games against the Dallas Cowboys but that doesn't mean the fans can't laugh at the Cowboys whenever times are tough, right? The Cowboys have completely botched the Micah Parsons contract situation and man, oh man has it been entertaining for Giants fans!
One would think that, given Parsons' production since the Cowboys landed him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cowboys would have done what any team would do and extend the guy. After all, he's notched double-digit sacks in each of his four seasons and been an absolute beast.
It sucks having to compliment a Cowboys player but even Giants fans can recognize how good Parsons is. The guy is a wrecking ball. Dallas clearly doesn't seem to agree though, as Jerry Jones and the front office have continued to kick the can of extending their star pass-rusher down the road.
What that's led to is Parsons finally taking a stand and declaring that he wants out of Dallas once and for all. Parsons' exact words, which he posted in a lengthy note from his phone on social media, were "I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys."
Micah Parsons contract chaos is giving Giants fans something to smile about
Had the Cowboys simply extended Parsons a year ago when he first became eligible to be extended, the team wouldn't be in this boat right now. Not only that but Parsons' deal would probably already be a bargain compared to the other pass-rushers getting paid right now.
The Cowboys continuing to push this extension down the road has made it to where Parsons is going to be more expensive and now the guy doesn't want anything to do with them. This is pure comedy for Giants fans and hopefully, Parsons continues to ride this "I don't want to play for the Cowboys" stance.
Getting Parsons out of the division would be the perfect offseason present to the Giants. Not only would it take a strong opposing player out of the division but it'd weaken the Cowboys and continue to make them look foolish. That sounds like a great thing for the New York Giants.
For now though, let's just continue to sit back and watch things crash and burn for the Dallas Cowboys.
