With another playoff-less season coming to a close, New York Giants need to prepare themselves for another pivotal offseason. The Giants will already be bringing in a new head coach, but there's a chance the change in leaderships prompts Big Blue to pursue a massive roster overhaul this spring.
Wan'Dale Robinson might be the biggest name on the roster heading to free agency, but he's not the only impending free agent the G-Men can't afford to lose. Starting right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor is also set to hit the open market, but the veteran tackle told the media that he wants to stay in New York.
The 30-year-old said he's enjoyed his time in blue and white, but also admitted that he has yet to engage in any true extension talks with Giants brass. However, with seven games remaining this year, a strong end to Eluemenor's season could help him receive a massive payday from the team (or someone else).
Jermaine Eluemunor's future with the Giants is in serious jeopardy
Giants fans might not realize it due to their 2-9 record, but Eluemunor and Andrew Thomas have quietly provided Big Blue with one of the best tackle duos in the NFL. And it's that adequate protection that has been key in helping Jaxson Dart establish himself as New York's QB of the future.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Texas A&M product's 77.1 pass blocking grade ranks 16th among 76 qualified tackles, but that's not even the most impressive statistic. Eluemunor is eighth at the position in snaps played this season, which is a testament to the stability he's given the Giants.
After bouncing around the league prior to landing in the Big Apple, it looks like the career journeyman has finally found a permanent home. His two-year $14 million deal signed with the Giants in the 2024 offseason has aged gracefully, but Eluemunor will more than likely command a more expensive deal.
Eluemunor was a big part of the reason why the Giants felt so comfortable healthy scratching Evan Neal for all of the season before pretty much dangling him for scraps before the trade deadline. They managed to replace their former top-10 pick with someone who excels in pass protection, which has paid dividends.
Prior to Week 11, he logged PFF pass blocking grades over 80 in three consecutive games, but it didn't do enough to turn the tides amid New York's losing streak. Now that Brian Daboll is gone, his future is coming into question, but the Giants can't let him walk that easily.
