Giants' first Week 3 injury report confirms the duct tape is unraveling

The lack of depth could be catching up to the G-Men.

The Giants are still reeling from a 40-37 overtime collapse in Dallas, flagged into oblivion with 14 penalties and 160 yards. It was a winnable game, and Russell Wilson nearly did it himself, dropping 450 yards and 3 TDs, but the complete meltdown was too much. Sloppy, self-inflicted, and season-altering.

Now they head home for the first time in 2025, hosting the also-winless Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. KC's got its own issues: its lackluster receiver corps, offensive inconsistencies, and poor execution. It’s a high-stakes mess, and someone’s crawling out 1-2.

If Big Blue’s going to pull the upset, they’ll need some help from the injury report. Star lineman Andrew Thomas was seen ramping things up on Wednesday, the linebacker room is running out of bodies, and the Giants desperately need a win — for the standings, the locker room, and for everyone's sanity.

Giant's first Week 3 injury report highlights a roster under strain

The first official injury report of the week didn’t offer much clarity... or confidence, for that matter. If anything, it confirmed what fans already knew: the Giants are banged up in all the wrong places, and the margin for error is razor-thin heading into a primetime clash with the Chiefs. Below is the Giants’ first Week 3 injury report:

Did not participate in practice:

  • LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (Calf)
  • DL Chauncey Golston (Ankle)
  • LB Darius Muasau (Concussion/Eye)

Limited at practice:

  • WR Gunner Olszewski (Back)
  • DL Rakeem Nuñez-Roches Sr. (Foot)
  • WR Wan’Dale Robinson (Foot)
  • G Jon Runyan (Back)
  • C John Michael Schmitz (Toe)
  • WR Darius Slayton (Groin/Calf)
  • OT Andrew Thomas (Foot)
  • RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. (Calf)

Full:

  • DL Roy Robertson-Harris (Knee)
  • RB Cam Scattebo (Ankle)

Ruled out (injured reserve):

  • LB Chris Board (chest)
  • LB Micah McFadden (foot)

So, let’s break this down.

Let's start with the linebacker room, which is officially being held together by duct tape and Swayze Bozeman. With McFadden and Chris Board on IR, and both of Flannigan-Fowles and Muasau missing practice, this is quickly becoming a crisis.

Swayze Bozeman, a 2024 undrafted free agent the Chiefs originally signed out of Southern Miss, has been activated from the practice squad by New York, due to the depleted LB depth. He could see real snaps Sunday, which is either poetic or terrifying, depending on how generous you’re feeling.

Then there’s Andrew Thomas. He’s still limited, but Brian Daboll said he’s “encouraged” and taking more reps than he did last week. It’s trending in the right direction. That matters because James Hudson has been unplayable, and rookie Marcus Mbow, while solid, isn’t someone you want taking 60 snaps opposite Chris Jones and George Karlaftis.

Thomas' return changes everything for the offense — timing, tempo, protection, even the run game (which has been non-existent in 2025). Even still, three offensive line starters on the report is less than ideal. While they'll likely be available Sunday, it still just goes to show how quickly this team can fall apart due to its lack of depth.

And don’t sleep on the wide receiver situation either. It's unlikely that they'll miss the game, but Slayton and Robinson are on the report, and this is a group already short on proven depth. If either of those guys is held back Sunday night, the game plan may shrink even further.
