Giants free agents following Brian Daboll says more than you think

When the NFL's free agency period started Monday, it became pretty clear that this is going to be a much different New York Giants roster compared to 2025. The front office brought in names like tight end Isaiah Likely and Greg Newsome II, as well as bringing back Jermaine Eluemunor and Micah McFadden. But the departures -- and where they went -- are where it gets interesting.

Wan'Dale Robinson, Cor'Dale Flott, and Daniel Bellinger will play elsewhere come 2026. The three now former Giants will don Tennessee Titans uniforms when Week 1 begins. The most interesting part about that? They reunite with former head coach Brian Daboll.

Daboll took the Titans' offensive coordinator job in the offseason and has made it clear that the G-Men have stayed on his mind. Robinson and Bellinger were some of the most prolific playmakers in Daboll's system, so it makes sense he recruited them hard, especially for his new offense. We can't say for sure whether he was the key driver in getting Flott to flip, but there's no doubt Daboll was in Robert Salah's ear to get the deal done.

Players reuniting with Daboll puts exclamation on organizational energy shift

These three reunions raise a couple of interesting questions. Did the players enjoy Daboll more than they led on? From the outside looking in, especially in the past two seasons, a lot of players looked like they quit on the field. Usually, if you're quitting during the game, you're quitting on your coach, and you don't necessarily want to play for that guy again.

But, there is obviously something about Dabs that these guys liked enough not to want to see how things change with a new regime.

That in itself is the bigger question. Do these players' leaving say more about the new regime than we think? Did they not want to play for Harbaugh, and that's why they left? The short answer is if that's the case, then good riddance. Since his hiring, Harbaugh has made it clear that things are going to change. If you aren't with it, then you don't need to be on the team.

Although it hurts to see good players like Robinson and Flott go, they can reunite with the guy they couldn't win games with all they want. Going back to Daboll says more about the players than where the new-look Giants are headed.
