The New York Giants finally look like they have their guy at the quarterback position.

After trading up to draft Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick in last year's draft, the Giants may finally have their new franchise man for many years to come. In 12 starts last season (going 4-8), Dart passed for 2,272 yards with 15 touchdowns to just five interceptions, as well as nine rushing scores.

Even though the wins weren't quite there for New York last season, 2026 is expected to be a much better year for Dart and company. And with this upcoming season being filled with many young quarterbacks, where does the former Ole Miss Rebel rank among his fellow young gun-slingers?

Big things are expected out of Jaxson Dart entering his second season in the NFL

Nick Shook of NFL.com recently ranked the 15 quarterbacks entering this season who are still on their rookie contracts, and when it came time to slot Dart into the rankings, he landed at No. 8:

"Dart has one of the most entertaining play styles in the NFL, possessing the blend of fearlessness, accuracy and relentlessness necessary for lifting the Giants out of mediocrity. Unfortunately, that same collection of attributes put him in harm's way on a number of occasions in 2025, limiting his availability," Shook wrote. "If Dart can minimize the injury risk while still largely staying true to himself, he'll deliver on his potential. I'm not yet sold he'll be able to do that, though."

The potential for Dart is clearly there, as we all saw last season. However, Shook pointed out one flaw that both the Giants and fans agree he must work on. The 22-year-old was checked for a concussion on multiple occasions and even missed three games because of one.

Those concussions, of course, are due to Dart refusing to slide when running with the football, resulting in him taking some brutal hits. The Giants want their young quarterback to reduce that if they want to contend this season. That may also be why he was ranked a bit lower than some of the other young quarterbacks across the NFL.

The 22-year-old has all the tools and skill sets to be a successful quarterback in the NFL, but it all clearly rides on staying healthy.
