Jaxson Dart didn’t wait for training camp to go viral with jaw-dropping throw

The New York Giants traded back into the first round to select Jaxson Dart with the 25th pick and shocked the world. After an offseason of roster overhaul, the quarterback room—headlined by Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston—finally received its last piece, fully turning over a new chapter of Giants football.

Dart was viewed as a top-three QB in the 2025 class, though some questioned whether he was NFL-ready coming out of Ole Miss. The thought was that the offensive system under head coach Lane Kiffin wasn't conducive to the NFL's style of play.

Well, football games are played on the field, not in the minds of the media. And no group reaps those benefits more than the forever downtrodden Giants fans. In a viral video, Dart just gave fans more hope than they ever could have imagined. And for the first time in a long time, it's okay to be excited.

Russell Wilson apparently isn't the only Giants' QB who can throw moonballs

Russ is known for his iconic outside-the-numbers passes—appropriately nicknamed moonballs—which Brian Daboll, Giants receivers, and fans can't wait to witness, but it looks like he won't be the only one throwing deep. If the rookie has any say, the competition is on.

In what looked like a throw across the Atlantic Ocean, Dart absolutely piped a...dart to a buddy riding on a jet ski, hitting him square in the chest, before botching the catch with a lazy body trap instead of attacking the ball with his hands. But we digress. It's the throw that's mind-boggling.

Just take a look at the video below:

If that's foreshadowing, sign us up. If you immediately imagined the connection with Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton, you're not alone. The thought that this could be what's coming to a television near you on Sundays is more than enough to get amped for 2025.

That said, expectations might need to be tempered a little bit. Dart isn't starting anytime soon—possibly not at all this season. Daboll already named Wilson the starter, but after videos like this, it's fair to question just how long of a leash the 36-year-old has.

Dart's viral throw couldn't have come at a better time. Giants training camp is here, with the first day for rookies coming today. The QB will get plenty of reps to prove he is more ready than initially projected, and I'll tell you this: if he can translate these types of throws into meaningful reps at training camp, Big Blue might just be in a better position than anyone could have imagined.
