John Harbaugh may have handed Brian Daboll the ideal career reset

This could be the perfect situation for the ex-Giants head coach.

After Brian Daboll helped the New York Giants seal the deal with hiring John Harbaugh, he's starting to take off on the coaching cycle. He has coaching interviews up the wazoo these next couple of days, but the ex-Giants' head coach may have received a huge boost from the current Giants' coach.

Harbaugh looks to be repaying the 50-year-old for his help, as one of his biggest OC interviews is with his brother and the Los Angeles Chargers. Daboll is set to interview for the Chargers' offensive coordinator position, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

After Jim Harbaugh—John's brother and the head coach of the Chargers—fired Greg Roman, they are searching for a new play-caller, and Daboll is one of the names set to interview for their OC opening.

Despite a rough tenure in New York, Daboll is starting to become a hot commodity on the OC market, because he only struggled with the leadership side of being a head coach. There's a real chance that one Harbaugh helped connect him with the other, and this would be a fantastic career move for him.

Former New York Giants HC Brian Daboll could land with a 'Harbaugh' after all

In all honesty, Daboll calling an offense for Justin Herbert would be a nightmare in the best possible way. We saw what he was able to accomplish in the development of Josh Allen, and even Jaxson Dart impressed in his rookie season before he was fired, which helped affirm his status as a QB guru.

Anyone with a pulse knows Herbert is one of the best signal-callers in football, but he has yet to enjoy postseason success because of poor play-calling. Herbert is surrounded by some solid weapons, but hiring Daboll would help him reach the peak of his potential and get the most out of his wide receivers.

The most interesting aspect about a potential Daboll-Harbaugh marriage is their difference in philosophy.

One likes to pound the rock and use the ground game to wear down defenses, while the other prefers to take shots downfield and test defenses through the air, which could end up working out.

Between the Bolts' elite run game and some solid weapons in the passing game, this offense would thrive running a spread offense. With Roman calling plays, they were too one-dimensional, and there aren't many who have the track record Daboll does, which is why he'd thrive calling plays for Herbert.

Daboll also has an interview lined up for the Titans' head coaching gig, but this also won't be his only OC interview. The Philadelphia Eagles are also rumored to be interested, and he could also land interviews in Tampa Bay and Detroit, where he would be equipped with even more talent.

He'll be a busy man across the next couple of weeks, and he has Harbaugh to thank for that.
