As we enter the final three weeks of the NFL regular season, the conclusion of the 2025 season can't come soon enough for the New York Giants.
It has been another dismal season for Big Blue, as their record currently sits at 2-12 for the second year, and they're in the midst of an eight-game losing streak (which also happened last year and turned into a 10-game slide). If there is any stepping stone they want to build upon leading up to 2026, it is the continuing development of their rookie quarterback.
While their record is nowhere near what the Giants would like, they at least know they may finally have their franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart, who has been a nice sparkplug for them in another lost season. If the G-Men want to give their fans an early Christmas present, they should close out 2025 in this direction.
NY Giants' dream scenario couldn't be any clearer
In an article for Bleacher Report, Brad Gagnon offered a simple strategy for how the Giants should end the 2025 season:
"Continued progress from Jaxson Dart, no killer injuries and three losses to secure the top pick in the draft for the first time since 1965," Gagnon wrote.

New York's final three games of the year will be this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, a Week 17 matchup in Las Vegas against the Raiders, and the regular season finale, a game against the Dallas Cowboys. Even though all three of those teams will also have nothing to play for, there is a real chance that the Giants could lose all those games... which may, in the end, be a good thing.
As Gagnon alluded to, the Giants have not had the first overall pick in an NFL Draft in 60 years, and that scenario may finally come to fruition if they end the season losing their final three games.
Even though it would mean ending the year on a franchise-worst 11-game losing streak to go 2-15 on the year (also a team record), what better Christmas present to give to your fans than holding onto their first overall pick to potentially use it as a piece to build around your quarterback and the rest of the team for 2026.
