Giants legend just delivered a Drake Maye-sized wake-up call for John Harbaugh

Maye-be he's onto something.

It's a shame that the New England Patriots won't be guaranteed to lose the upcoming Super Bowl because the New York Giants aren't in it this year. That's a bummer, for sure.

But that didn't stop Giants legend Carl Banks from pumping up the Pats ahead of their Super Bowl LX showdown with the Seattle Seahawks. The biggest reason why New England is back in the championship game is second-year quarterback Drake Maye. The 23-year-old finished second in MVP voting this year, signaling a changing of the guard in the NFL that the league thought it was done with. Not if Jaxson Dart and John Harbaugh have anything to say about it.

You thought Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs were annoying for the past six years? How about the Patriots for the past 25? We were too busy rooting for the Chiefs' demise to see what was happening in front of us this whole time: the Pats are back.

And if you're Harbaugh, it's a fresh reminder that dynasties don't die easily. Banks all but confirmed it with his latest interview with SportsBoom.us, praising Maye as if he's the second coming of Tom Brady:

"It's interesting, if you have to look at modern day, he's probably a combination of Josh Allen, but he's just not as athletic, but he plays the game smart like Brock Purdy. He's got a little bit of that (Patrick) Mahomes in him, because he can improvise a little bit. He's kind of a combination of all three of those guys."

If only there were a team that's had postseason success against Brady...

John Harbaugh’s Giants are the only thing standing in the way of another Patriots dynasty

Did someone say the Pats are about to start another dynasty? If they did, Dart just turned around with the Marvel Infinity Gauntlet, doing his best Thanos impression: "I am inevitable."

If any team is best suited to stop another Patriots dynasty from terrorizing the NFL community again, it's the Giants. It's kinda their thing. Why do the Pats only have six Super Bowl rings instead of eight? Oh, it's because the G-Men pulled off the biggest upset in sports history on the world's biggest stage, not once, but twice.

And if they have to do it again with Dart and Harbaugh, so be it. Challenge accepted, Mr. Banks.

It wasn't all that long ago that Brady was leading the Pats to their potential fourth and fifth Super Bowl titles in 2007 and 2011, respectively. But then they ran into Big Blue at the worst time possible. We watched the Patriots roll into SBXLII, expecting a parade, and left them with one of the most brutal losses in NFL history. Then they did it again four years later, just to make sure they got the message.

So while the Maye-led Patriots head to their 12th title game appearance, it's important to remember that no matter how much success this new iteration of the Pats has, it'll inevitably be capped by the Dart- and Harbaugh-led G-Men, because the universe requires it.

Welcome to the wake-up call. Maye is the real deal. New England isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. And Harby didn’t come to East Rutherford to live it up at the American Dream retail and amusement complex. It's time for Big Blue's new duo to do their best Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning impression.

Giants fans have seen this movie twice already, and it never ends well for New England -- oh, no. If the Pats are actually gearing up for another unbearable run, Harbs and Dart might just be the only ones standing in the way of another 20-plus seasons of misery, and Carl Banks just rang the alarm for them to take their positions and get ready to put an end to the potential ensuing ridiculousness.
