The New York Giants are heading to Arlington after putting up just six points in a Week 1 loss that felt like fans were sucked into a 2024 time loop. Between the stagnant offense, shaky offensive line play, and complete lack of execution, it was a rough start to the Russell Wilson era.

And with head coach Brian Daboll confirming that Wilson will remain the starter in Week 2, things are already starting to feel like a repeat of the Daniel Jones situation, waiting too long to make a change, fans already know is necessary.

But if one prediction pans out, this could be the week everything flips. NFL Spin Zone’s Ryan Heckman put out his bold QB takes ahead of Week 2 (after being eerily spot-on in Week 1) and didn’t hold back on what he sees coming for Big Blue. His forecast?

"In this one, the Cowboys make Russell Wilson look like Cade McNown and force Brian Daboll into a very early shift at quarterback. Giants fans will thank the Cowboys for officially bringing on the Jaxson Dart era.”

Week 2 could be the end of the Russell Wilson experiment in New York

It’s not hard to see where Heckman’s coming from. The G-Men haven’t beaten the Cowboys since the 2020 season and have lost eight straight in the rivalry. Dallas just held Jalen Hurts to 152 yards through the air and gave Philly a tough time all night, even without Micah Parsons in the mix. They did give up 158 yards on the ground, so there's a liability to exploit.

If they bring that same pressure on Sunday, it could be another long day for Wilson behind an offensive line that struggled to do just about anything productive against Washington.

Wilson completed just 17 of 37 passes last week for 168 yards. He didn’t lead a touchdown drive. He looked uncomfortable from the first snap. And while Dabs is running it back with Wilson, the leash already feels short.

That’s where preseason rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart comes in. The 22-year-old didn’t take a snap in Week 1, but Big Blue fans haven’t stopped calling for him since his electric preseason. If things spiral again in Arlington, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see Daboll finally turn to the former Ole Miss standout and give the offense a new look.

To say it'd be welcomed by fans would be an understatement. However, what's lost in all this is Russ' contract — he's guaranteed $10.5 million and it'd be bad business to essentially pay him that much for one game... but if the shoe fits.

No one’s saying Dart is the guaranteed answer. But at some point, Wilson can’t be either. Heckman’s not making a wild call here. He’s pointing in the direction everything’s already heading. And if it happens in Week 2, Giants fans may have the Cowboys to thank if it all works out.

And who knows, if Daboll and Co. realize that Dart's the franchise savior moving forward, New York might forever be in Dallas' debt for making it happen.
