The New York Giants' wide receiver corps may lack top-end talent outside of Malik Nabers, but it holds multiple capable veterans pushing for roster spots. The depth of the room is miles ahead of what it was at this time last year.
That's great news for Jaxson Dart, but it gives receivers at the end of the depth chart almost no chance to make the roster.
The Giants released fourth-year wideout Ryan Miller this week, per league insider Aaron Wilson. Miller saw significant work in Big Blue's preseason win over the Miami Dolphins, but failed to make an impact. In a crowded group of wide receivers, Miller had no real chance of making the final roster. Harbaugh and his staff decided to get this cut out of the way early.

Miller spent the first three years of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, carving out a role on special teams after joining the squad as an undrafted free agent. While his impact on offense was limited, he did score three touchdowns on 12 catches from 2024 to 2025.
The Giants claimed Miller off waivers late last season and re-signed him early in the offseason. Before the frenzy of signings that brought Odell Beckham Jr., Braxton Berrios, and JuJu Smith-Schuster to town, Miller seemed to have a real chance to fight for a roster spot.
That chance quickly vanished as the offseason progressed. Miller fell to the end of the depth chart, buried under the wave of free-agency additions at the position. He failed to stand out in training camp, making his release inevitable.
Miller saw his biggest opportunity of the offseason in New York's preseason matchup with the Dolphins. The receiver played 32 snaps on offense and six on special teams. Still, it was easy to miss him on the field. In 15 pass snaps, he was never targeted. He was lackluster as a run blocker and failed to make any noticeable impact on the game.
The Giants will still need to make a few more tough decisions at wide receiver before the start of the season. They already let go of Smith-Schuster, but Beckham Jr. and Berrios are still battling for their spots on the final roster. Former contributors like Jalin Hyatt and Isaiah Hodgins are as good as gone. Miller was put on the chopping block early, but he won't be the last wideout to go.
