Training camp opened Tuesday, and the New York Giants wasted no time making a move that fans can rally around. As reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the team signed veteran safety K’Von Wallace to their 90-man roster — a move that helps shore up a thin depth chart and, just as importantly, fits the attitude this fanbase demands.

Wallace worked out for the G-Men during mandatory minicamp in June and was clearly on their radar. The 27-year-old has bounced around the league since entering as a fourth-round pick by the Eagles in 2020, but the connection here is obvious. He started seven games for the Tennessee Titans in 2023, where Shane Bowen — now the Giants’ defensive coordinator — called the shots.

He adds value on special teams, brings starting experience, and knows the defense. It's not just Bowen he knows — Wallace also used to play with Dexter Lawrence at Clemson, so another win for familiarity.

But there’s one perfect reason that might have fans rooting for the guy at training camp — and it goes back to a podcast appearance he made during his rookie year in Philly that has resurfaced. Wallace didn’t sugarcoat how he felt about the NFC East’s most-hated team.

“This is how amazing God is, he always knows … I’ve always hated the f***ing Cowboys,” Wallace said on the Flippin’ the Birds podcast.

Wallace’s deep-rooted Cowboys hatred might already make him a training camp fan favorite

It’s the kind of line that earns you cheers and free beers at MetLife before you ever take a snap.

It’s no secret that New York’s defensive backfield was overdue for more competition. Tyler Nubin and Jevon Holland are locked in up top, and Dane Belton has put together a strong offseason. But there’s little clarity beyond that, especially with Anthony Johnson banged up this spring and no one else proven behind him.

Wallace walks into camp with a realistic shot at the fourth safety job, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to think he could steal reps if injuries hit.

This signing might’ve flown under the radar if not for that quote and his connection to Bowen. And frankly, that’s fine. Nobody’s projecting Wallace as much of a difference-maker. But when it comes to rounding out the back end of the roster with someone who knows the scheme, can play special teams, and already despises the team Big Blue Nation hate most, it’s hard to ask for much more.

Wallace might already be in Giants fans’ good graces, but training camp will decide if he sticks.
