There's no time like NFL training camp for blasting overreactions to a single day of practice. This time of year can lead people to believe in either an impending breakout for a young player or the official doom of another. A single social media post can cause panic to overtake a fanbase like wildfire.

Jaxson Dart's early struggles are no reason to panic
An offseason's worth of breakout momentum for Jaxson Dart has come to a screeching halt after the second-year quarterback's struggles in training camp. According to practice reports, Dart has been slow to process looks, often delivering the ball later than he should.
Per Jordan Raanan of ESPN, "Jaxson Dart and the offense have struggled the past few days. Saturday was an up-and-down practice for the second-year quarterback learning a new offense."
There's no reason to panic here. Dart is a 23-year-old quarterback learning a new offense under coordinator Matt Nagy. Especially in early 11-on-11 reps, there are bound to be some mistakes. It will be important to see how the young QB bounces back in the coming days.
Abdul Carter's breakout hype is real
The Giants' other first-round pick from last year's draft, Abdul Carter has been terrorizing New York's offense so far in training camp. The edge rusher claimed to have his sights set on winning Defensive Player of the Year in 2026, and he has all of the talent he needs to do so.
According to Raanan, Carter had a dominant practice last week. Raanan said, "Pass rusher Abdul Carter reminded everyone why he was the No. 3 overall pick last year. He was a menace in the second practice of the summer, constantly in the backfield and even getting credited with some sacks."
After producing 66 pressures last season, Carter is bound to increase his sack total in 2026.
Malachi Fields is ready for a real role
Wideout Malachi Fields has been impressive in early training camp practices. Dan Duggan reported that the rookie had an impressive catch over cornerback Greg Newsome on the second day of practice, and that Fields has seen "a ton of first-team reps."
Rookies tend to generate plenty of buzz around this time of year, but Fields seems like the real deal in the early going. If Malik Nabers is healthy, the rookie probably won't crack the starting lineup in Week 1. Still, early camp reports indicate that he will have an important role in the offense.
