Giants urged to explore bruising RB trade after Cam Skattebo injury

It's Quadzilla!

It’s not every day a prolific rookie goes down for the season with a dislocated ankle. But when it happens, you shed some tears, pour one out, and move forward. It’s the only way New York Giants fans know how.

Losing running back Cam Skattebo — who I'm convinced moonlights as the Tasmanian Devil — for the year is a brutal blow. Just as things were looking up in East Rutherford, the football gods chimed in with a swift, “No more.” Four weeks of fun were apparently enough. Just like that, the sails are empty again.

Finding a replacement for a guy who used to run into telephone poles will be nearly impossible, but our friends over at Section 215 believe they may have found a solution by sending now-outcast tailback A.J. Dillon to East Rutherford:

"New York Giants rookie sensation Cam Skattebo suffered a season-ending dislocated ankle in Sunday's loss to the Eagles, leaving the Giants with a huge hole to fill. ... Trading Dillon could make sense and give Bigsby more time to get acclimated to a potential increased load as Philadelphia heads into its Week 9 bye."

Giants urged to make trade with Eagles for underwhelming RB A.J. Dillon

First off, the Philadelphia Eagles are the worst. Secondly, they stink. And you couldn't tush push me off that stance if you tried. All joking aside, it's not an awful idea.

After Tank Bigsby obliterated the Giants' defense on Sunday, there's no real room for Dillon in Philly. But for the right price, there could be just a few hours' drive north up I-95.

Dillon is a northeast guy. He was born in Maryland and played college ball at Boston College. He's a bruiser-type, 6-foot, 247 pounds, bringing a similar running style Skatt did, minus the receiving ability. Nicknamed "Quadzilla" for his enormous lower body strength, he runs with power and purpose.

Unfortunately for the 27-year-old, he has little to no purpose on the Eagles. Through six games, he has 12 rushes for 60 yards, no touchdowns, and a fumble. That could make the asking price exceptionally reasonable for the G-Men.

It's worth a call for sure. Aside from Dillon's name coming out of the abyss and being thrown into the mix, training camp standout and practice squad member Dante "Turbo" Miller is a name to monitor, but you never know. General manager Joe Schoen needs to surround his rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart, with as much talent as he can find. Maybe this is an avenue.
