The New York Giants took a swing for Matthew Stafford and missed and now they'll have to find another quarterback to lead them in 2025. One of the options for them to consider bringing in is Aaron Rodgers, who spent the last two years with the Jets.
Rodgers looked nowhere close to being the same guy he was during his lengthy Packers tenure but he wasn't solely to blame for the Jets' disappointing 2024 season. In fact, Peter Schrager of Good Morning Football spoke with Mike Garafolo about the possibility of Rodgers landing with the Giants, noting he thinks the fit makes sense for both sides.

“The thought that [Rodgers] wasn’t so bad last year, teammates like him, and he and [Brian] Daboll kind of playing with a chip on both of their shoulders this year. Let’s team up and let’s do this thing together,” Schrager said.
Garafolo didn't think Schrager was crazy at all for his take, pointing out how weak the free-agent quarterbacks are this offseason and that it wouldn't cost New York much to bring Rodgers in for a year or two.
“[Rodgers is] one of the best options out there. I mean, I know it wasn’t a great season with the Jets, but look around. And it’s not gonna cost you a ton of money… That’s the part I can’t really put into place right now, is if he’s willing to go there and to play.”
Peter Schrager and Mike Garafolo think Aaron Rodgers should play for NY Giants in 2025
Giants fans might not love this idea but Schrager and Garafolo do bring up some good points. The quarterbacks available whether through free agency or the draft leave plenty to be desired and while there has been some talk of the Giants moving up to number one in the draft, they'd have to give up a lot to make that happen, and who's to say Cam Ward even works out? There's a reason the Titans are willing to move out of the top spot in the draft.
Rodgers might have the ability to bring Davante Adams with him, which would give him Adams and Malik Nabers as his top weapons with his new team. That offense wouldn't be terrible, which was not the case last year. Nabers deserves to have a quarterback who can get him the ball and that wouldn't be an issue with Rodgers on the roster.
Rodgers is easy to hate on because of his personality but when the best quarterback options are a 41-year-old Rodgers, Sam Darnold, and Russell Wilson, the Giants need to take whoever they feel gives them the best chance to be competitive, even if it is short-term.
